London Marathon Ballot
As affiliates of England Athletics, Ealing Eagles normally receives two places for the TCS London Marathon. Places assigned to the club are available to members via a club ballot.
Ballot Criteria 2025
The London Marathon in 2025 is expected to take place in April. On the assumption that Ealing Eagles will be allocated places in the 2025 race, the entry criteria for club members to enter the ballot for club places is as follows.
Be an England Athletics member (for those who run with more than one club, you must have been a first-claim member with the Ealing Eagles from 1st April 2024)
Have been a fully paid up member for at least 12 months as of 30th November 2024 with no outstanding money owed to the club
Have entered and been rejected from the 2025 race public ballot (proof of rejection required)
Have not won a London Marathon place via the Ealing Eagles club ballot in the last three yearly ballots (races held in 2022, 2023 and 2024)
Do not have Good for Age entry which can be guaranteed directly with the London Marathon organiser. If you did apply and were rejected for a Good for Age place, please attach your proof of rejection
Did not run in the previous years London Marathon (i.e. 2024) - excludes the virtual race
Members must also agree to the following in advance of winning a ballot place:
Pay the TCS London Marathon entry fee.
Continue to be an active participant in the club training sessions, especially the longer Sunday runs throughout the period leading up to race day.
Write a short blog or post on social media for the club every 2 weeks during the marathon training and once after the race.
Wear an Ealing Eagles vest on race day (high-fives to the cheer squad are optional).
Ballot winners are not permitted to defer places without prior agreement from the committee.
Points System
We are using the points system again, relating to being an active participant of the club.
Volunteering (see below for details) - Min 5 points, Max 15 points
Compete in Summer League or XC (Met or Sunday League) - Max 5 points
Compete in other Club Champs Races - Max 5 points
Compete in other races wearing a club vest - Max 5 points
Total points required is minimum of 20, Maximum 30.

Middlesex XC Champs
MYAL
Vets track and field events
Southern Athletics League
Any other race where the club are expected to provide volunteers in order to compete
The number of volunteers required per session is at the discretion of the co-ordinator of that session.
You do not get points for volunteering at EHM, Osterley 10k or parkrun (apart from assisting with beginners at parkrun) as these are not Eagles organised events.

Committees 1 point per month on committee
Main Ealing Eagles committee (max 12 pts)
EE organised races (EE10km, EE Summer League, 10/20 mile training run, Track Mile)
Relay Events (Welsh Castles, GBR, Blondin Relays) - Team captains/organisers – 3 points
For the 2025 ballot the qualifying period is 1 December 2023 - 30 November 2024 and a minimum of 20 points (inc 5 volunteer points) will be required.
Please submit details of all your points by emailing membership@ealingeagles.com by the end of the day on 30th November 2024. All applicants with maximum points (30) will be put into an initial ballot for one of the ballot places. If you are unsuccessful then you will get a second chance and go into the ballot with all the other people for a chance to win one of the remaining places.
Ballot places are expected to be drawn at the Christmas Party in 2024.
