12 April: Club Guidance for safe running under the Government roadmap for lockdown easing

Today marks the next step in the Government's roadmap easing lockdown. This means:

  • People are allowed to meet outside, either with one other household or within the "rule of six", allowing for more social running. However, as we share paths and roads with other users who are likely to be anxious as we adjust to relaxed restrictions, we advise against running in groups of 5 or 6 at the moment.

  • Organised, Covid-secure outdoor sports can operate for adults and children meaning we can offer coach-led training sessions. Please make sure you book in advance, read the booking instructions and follow all safety procedures put in place.

  • Coffee shops and pubs are now allowed to serve food and beverages to customers who can now gather outdoors in socially distanced, rule of six/two household groups to enjoy post-run refreshments.

  • You may travel to competitions and for training, although the Government is urging people to stay local as much as possible.

We must remember that the Government's roadmap is conditional on continuing to mitigate the transmission of Covid 19, and we must remain considerate to our community. With that in mind, we recommend that you:

  • Maintain at least a 2m social distance whenever possible

  • Be courteous to other people who may be running, cycling or walking in the same area

  • Avoid times, and places you know will be busy
