It’s that time of year again – Summer League is back! There are four fixtures this year and we are hosting one of them so it’s set to be a great summer. If we get a good turn out like we have done the last few years there’s a chance we may even win again, no pressure!
For those new to the club, Summer League is a series of family friendly races which take place over the summer months. It is a competition between us and some like minded clubs and the emphasis is on participation rather than speed. The other clubs are Dulwich Park Runners, Mornington Chasers, Metros, Serpentine RC, Sudbury Park and Queen's Park Harriers.
Summer League is suitable for everyone so if you’ve not been before then why not make your debut this year? If you’re new to the Eagles this is a great way to get to know more people! You will be in good company and the races are well supported so come along and give it a go, you’ve got nothing to lose! By the way, I forgot to mention there is cake at the end of each one – what more incentive do you need?!
There are 3 x 10km races and 1 x 5 miles. Following the main event there is a shorter 'tenderfoot' (1.5-2km) race suitable for children, runners returning from injury and runners who prefer to run a shorter distance, and then a 400m fun run for younger children. Finally there is a series of optional, light hearted, age graded, 300-400m relays, again suitable for all ages and abilities.
The fixtures schedule is:
As we are hosting a fixture at Gunnersbury we will need to help organise and marshal this event, as well as provide some food for afterwards! If you would like to help at Gunnersbury please email race@ealingeagles.com, or put a message on the Facebook event and we will co-ordinate all the volunteers nearer the time.
Look out for further details!
